Have you ever made a deal over a cup of coffee? God makes deals – they are called covenants.

I wonder how many deals have been made over a cup of coffee –hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions? Four thousand years ago God made a covenant with a man called Abraham. You could say that they cut a deal since the Hebrew idiom used was to cut a covenant. The promise was that through Abraham’s seed all the nations of the earth would be blessed. As you drink your coffee this morning perhaps you wonder what part you have in the blessings of that covenant. This is the deal. He who was one with God became cut off from God that we who are cut off from God might be made one with God. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 This would be a good time to take advantage of this deal which God offers.
